I bought the Chinese starter set when my child was one year old. I‘m not fluent but wanted my child, who is trilingual in other languages, to have exposure to this part of her heritage (and for myself too!). It is no replacement for full immersion, but the books are beautifully made and illustrated and of high quality. I like that some of the books have emphases on values like emotions or kindness, or display a diversity of cultures and foods. At age one, my child mainly used the book to dance to the catchy music played when you touch the white space, but now at 3 she is much more interested in the words and saying some back; she can use it independently, easily, too.
